2007 Baja 500 - Worthington Racing Joins the Forces

ENSENADA, MEXICO -- Loren Worthington, CEO of Worthington Off Road, began racing under the umbrella team of Los Angeles Sheriffs Department (LASD) Motorsports. He recently reintroduced an offroad truck and team to join numerous other Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies.

These teams of deputies do more than just police the streets of Los Angeles County for Sheriff Baca. They take their specialized vehicles to community events, schools, department functions, and car shows to show their pride in representing the LASD. But, their enthusiasm really begins when they take these vehicles to the track and the desert. This shows in Worthington's record.

After finishing third in the SCORE 2006 Baja 1000 in November of 2006, the Worthington Team now aggressively chases after the title for the Stock Full Champion. Under their belt they hold two third place finishes from the start of the 2007 race year. More importantly Worthington's truck was the first and only BIO-DIESEL powered vehicle to finish the Baja 1000, a true testimony to Worthington's passion for this sport.

This past weekend Worthington could be found flying his new Department Colors in the deserts of Baja Mexico. Through the silt and the fans out came Worthington's Dodge Ram 2500. This Biodiesel powered monster was built by Worthington Off Road. Also driving as part of this team was Sergeant Allen Harris.

After Sergeant Harris took the truck off the line, it quickly developed electrical problems, causing intermittent overheating which put the team in the back of the pack. Once the electrical issue was corrected, the truck passed an array of broken down race cars and trucks, making its way back into the race. But, as soon as they felt they were getting somewhere, Worthington's team was confronted with numerous non-race vehicles holding them up even further. When race mile 190 was in eyesight, radio traffic warned all racers who had not reached race mile 210, that there was a forty car log jam in one of the most difficult areas on the course. With no way around this major obstacle, Worthington re-fueled, gave the truck a once over and decided it would not be safe to continue to the finish.

Worthington Racing / LASD Motorsports still holds third in the point standings for the season. Loren Worthington and his Bio-diesel Dodge Ram 2500 will be back at the SCORE event in September. Look for him at SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300 with the Red Lights and Siren blasting. This team will continue to show the world of Off Road Racers what the Deputies from Los Angeles County can do when they trade in their tan and green for race suits...

A BIG thanks goes out to the following sponsors that provided their services and outstanding products to Worthington's efforts. Without their support this racing season would be almost impossible.
